Steve Bandura - Founder and Program Director

Steve has developed and run sports programs for inner city boys and girls at the Marian Anderson Recreation Center sine 1989. In 1995, Steve founded the Anderson Monarchs travel sports program, with teams competing in the city’s top baseball, soccer, and basketball leagues. Over the years, the Monarchs have developed the reputation as one of the top clubs in the Philadelphia area, capturing numerous city championships in all three sports. More importantly, as the only predominantly African American club in the city’s top leagues, the Monarchs have shattered stereotypes and broken down barriers wherever they’ve competed, and have shown what’s possible when inner city kids are given the same opportunities as their counterparts in the more affluent neighborhoods and suburbs. Steve is a full-time employee with Philadelphia Parks & Recreation. He lives in Philadelphia with his wife and two children.

Amos Huron- Executive Director

Amos began volunteering with the Anderson Monarchs program in 2007. After a stint with Philadelphia Parks & Recreation he was hired as the Executive Director of the Lenfest Center in 2011. He rejoined the Monarchs in March of 2017 as the organization’s first Executive Director. Amos is excited to build on the Monarchs' incredible history and accomplishments, and to increase access to opportunity for even more deserving young people in South Philadelphia and beyond. Amos lives in South Philadelphia with his wife and two daughters.
